The walls went up in May during Women Build Week and the work continues on Habitat for Humanity’s new home build in north Visalia. The homeowner family, the Santana’s, have been working along side community volunteers, building the house that they will call home. The Santana’s will need to put in 500 hours of sweat equity building their house and working on other Habitat projects as part of the partnership agreement with Habitat for Humanity. When the house is complete, they will purchase the house with a zero interest, Habitat loan.
The goal is to finish the project by Christmas so the Santana Family will be able to enjoy the best Christmas present ever…a new home. Volunteers are needed to work with Habitat Tuesday to Thursday during the week and on Saturdays to ensure the completion of the project. We also have two rehab projects needing volunteers so please call the Habitat office at 734-4040 ext 100 and ask for Anita to join the work teams.
You can donate to this project safely ON-LINE or send your check to Habitat for Humanity of Tulare/Kings Counties at PO Box 848, Visalia, CA 93279.
